Obituary

Madhusudan Bhatt passed away on March 1, 2021, five days short of his 82nd birthday, at George Washington Hospital due to complications related to COVID-19. A friend to all, Mike’s smile and exuberant laughter entered the room before he did. Mike was born on March 6, 1939 in the small town of Umreth in Gujarat, India. At age 30, Mike took the biggest risk of his life by applying to graduate school in the pizza capital of the world, New Haven, CT. After earning two Masters Degrees in Industrial Engineering and Business from the University of New Haven and establishing his career as an Engineer, his family was able to join him and build their new life as US citizens.
Mike went on to have a long and rewarding career in both CT and GA, eventually retiring in 2002 from the Department of Energy in Columbia South Carolina. Soon after, Mike and Mina moved closer to their grandchildren, settling at the idyllic Victoria Falls community in Laurel, Maryland.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Mina Bhatt, son Alpesh (Terri), daughter Madhvi Upender (Barg), and his cherished grandchildren, Anand and Naveen Upender, and Sara Bhatt.
